5. Canyon Springs Golf Club

Designed by Thomas Walker, Caynon Springs Golf Club is located on the city’s far north side in Canyon Springs, an area just north of the Stone Oak section of town. It was named “America’s Best New Public Golf Course” when it opened it 1998 by Golf Digest and remains a popular spot for enthusiasts of the sport.

The course is dotted throughout with historic buildings, stone outcroppings, and winds its way through several parts of the Canyon Springs master planned community.

As a public course, you won’t have to become a member to play here (but you can for various benefits) and rates run from $39.95 (after 5pm) to $104.95 (weekends before 1pm). Senior and military discounts are available, as well as range balls by the bucket, and rental clubs.
